Jennifer Carpenter is going country: The Dexter star has been tapped for a recurring role in Season 2 of the Yellowstone prequel series 1923, our sister pub Deadline reported Monday. The new season is set to begin production later this year.
According to the report, the actress will portray Mamie Fossett, “a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.”
TVLine has reached out to Paramount+ for confirmation/comment.
1923 introduces a new generation of Duttons, led by patriarch Jacob (played by Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren), and explores the early-20th Century when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition all plague the mountain west and the Duttons who call it home.
The Season 1 cast also included Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves and Jerome Flynn.
As for Carpenter, she was most recently seen in the Showtime sequel series Dexter: New Blood where she reprised the character of Debra Morgan. Her other TV credits include The Enemy Within, Limitless and The Good Wife.
1923 is executive-produced by Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Ben Richardson, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox.
